Description & Common Use: Acai (Pronouced as ah-sigh-ee) is a fruit that grows in the Amazon and is one of the highest antioxidant fruits in the world. Acai has 10 times the amount of antioxidants in grapes and twice that of blueberries. Acai has 10-30 times the antocyanins of red wine. The ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capcity) score for 100gm of freeze dried Acai powder is over 50,000.
Acai is rich in essential fatty acids, namely Omegas 3,6 and 9. 7.59% of the weight of the Acai pulp is amino acids. Plant sterols present in Acai include beta sitosteerol, capesterol and sigmasterol. It is also a good source of Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, C and E as well as potassium, calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc.
